Maurizio Manzin is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Trento, specializing in Philosophy of Law and legal argumentation. He earned his Philosophy degree cum laude from the University of Trieste (1983) and PhD in Legal Philosophy from the University of Padua (1989). His academic career began at the University of Padua (1985-1990) before joining Trento in 1990, where he became Full Professor in 2003.
Research Focus: Professor Manzin's work centers on legal reasoning methodologies, including:
- Epistemological foundations of law
- Theories of legal argumentation and judicial rhetoric
- Forensic ethics and deontology
- Dialogical approaches in legal/political philosophy
- Legal interpretation frameworks
Awards & Recognition:
- Distinguished Scholar of Natural Law Award (Pázmány Péter Catholic University, Budapest 2019)
Academic Leadership: He directs the Interuniversity Center for Rhetoric Studies (CIRHET) and Research Centre on Legal Methodology (CERMEG). Serves on doctoral committees at Trento/Padua universities and editorial boards of multiple law journals including 'Teoria e Critica della Regolazione Sociale' and 'Trento Student Law Review'.
