معرفی
Maureen Padden is an Associate Professor in the Department of Earth, Environment & Society at McMaster University. Her research focuses on sedimentary geology, Jurassic geological evolution, and the application of carbon isotope stratigraphy to understand paleoenvironments. Notably, she has explored methane hydrate dynamics and their implications for ancient climate systems. Her work integrates field-based studies with geochemical analyses to address questions in paleoclimatology and tectonics.
Teaching Roles:
- Instructor for Earth and the Environment (EARTHSC 1G03) across multiple years.
- Lead for Geology of Canada (EARTHSC 2T03) and Environmental Field Camp (ENVIRSC 3ME3).
- Supervised internships in Earth and Environmental Sciences (ENVIRSC 3IN3) and Environment and Society (ENVSOCTY 3MI3).
Research Interests:
- Carbon isotope stratigraphy of marine and lacustrine sediments.
- Environmental proxies for reconstructing past climatic conditions.
- Impact of methane release from gas hydrates on ancient ecosystems.
