Maureen Connolly, PhD, is a Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Brock University. Her research focuses on curriculum development, stressed embodiment, critical pedagogies, and phenomenological approaches. She holds significant accolades, including the 3M National Teaching Fellow award (2003) and the Chancellor’s Chair for Excellence in Teaching (2010–2013). Her work bridges theory and practice, emphasizing experiential learning and arts-based inquiry.
Dr. Connolly’s teaching encompasses Movement Education, Adaptive Physical Activity, and Critical Disability Studies. She actively contributes to professional communities like the North American Federation of Adapted Physical Activity and promotes inclusive education through initiatives such as the 3M National Student Fellows program. Her research explores intersections between embodiment, disability, and pedagogy, with recent studies addressing spinal cord injury care and neurogenic bowel management from patient and caregiver perspectives.
