Maud van den Berg

Maud van den Berg is a Research Fellow at the Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management, affiliated with the Department of Health Services Management & Organisation. She is currently a fourth-year PhD student conducting impactful research in value-based healthcare for maternity services.

Education:

• Bachelor in Health Sciences (Policy & Management), Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management (2015-2019)

Research Focus: Her work centers on value-based healthcare organization, outcome-based reimbursement models, provider payment schemes, and cost analysis in maternity care. She specializes in applying Time-Driven Activity-Based Costing (TDABC) to optimize care pathways in obstetrics and gynecology.

Scientific Contributions: Through her research at Annature Geboortezorg in Breda, funded by ZonMw, she has demonstrated significant improvements in gestational diabetes care with cost reduction. Her work integrates patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and experience measures (PREMs) in service evaluation.

Collaborations: Partners include healthcare insurer CZ, Erasmus Medical Center, and Annature Geboortezorg. Her research combines clinical practice with organizational reform in Dutch maternity care systems.
