Maud Pillet

Maud Pillet is an Assistant Professor in the Teaching Stream within the Department of Language Studies at the University of Toronto Scarborough campus.

Education:

• B.A. and M.A. (DEA) from University of Toulouse Le Mirail
• Ph.D. from University of Toronto (2011)

Research Interests: Her work spans 19th Century French Literature with specialized focus on Dark Romanticism and short stories. Current research examines the rhetoric and poetic representations of madness through scientific, religious, and artistic lenses in the writings of Villiers de L'Isle-Adam, Barbey d'Aurevilly, and Théophile Gautier.

Teaching Career: Dr. Pillet has taught across all three University of Toronto campuses (St. George, Mississauga, Scarborough) since 2006, with her primary appointment at Scarborough since 2011.
