Matti Kuittinen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture at Aalto University. He holds a D.Sc. (Architecture) from Aalto University (2016) and a Master's degree in Architecture from Helsinki University of Technology (1999). He has served in the Ministry of the Environment since 2016. His research focuses on sustainable architecture, climate change mitigation, circular economy, and energy efficiency, contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goals. Kuittinen has been awarded the Aid Innovation Challenge Award (2013), the Helsinki East Urban Centre Award (2020), and a prize for design excellence (2021). He leads the NEBA Alliance project (2024–2026) and has participated in over 60 academic activities, including keynote lectures and editorial roles. His work has been featured in 86 media outlets, highlighting innovations like circular economy demo houses and studies on urban carbon footprints.
