Matthäus Heil

Matthäus Heil serves as Professor and Research Associate at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (BBAW), actively contributing to two major editorial projects: Inscriptiones Graecae (Greek epigraphy) and Prosopographia Imperii Romani (Roman imperial biographical database).

His research spans Classical antiquity with specialized expertise in:

• Ancient inscriptions and material culture
• Roman imperial administration
• Historical linguistics of Greek
• Quantitative prosopographical methods
• Textual criticism of primary sources
