Matthias Vollmer

Matthias Vollmer is a Research Fellow in German Linguistics at the University of Greifswald, serving as Head of the Pomeranian Dictionary project. His academic career spans over two decades, focusing on dialectology and historical linguistics.

• Education: Master’s degree (1991) in German, History, and Psychology from the University of Bielefeld; Doctorate (1996) on onomastics and microtoponymy of East Westphalia.
• Research interests: German dialects, East Pomeranian language preservation, toponymy, historical linguistics, and lexicography.
• Award: Recipient of the Agathe Lasch Prize for his doctoral work.
• Current role: Research assistant at the Pomeranian Dictionary / Institute for German Philology since January 1999.
