Matthias Tröndle is a Researcher and Head of the Scientific Coordination Office at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Stuttgart and Tübingen. He holds a PhD in theoretical physics from the University of Stuttgart and the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems. His research focuses on critical Casimir effects, colloidal interactions, and patterned surface phenomena. As Scientific Coordinator, he oversees strategic partnerships, research collaborations, and public relations for the institute.
Education: PhD in Theoretical Physics (University of Stuttgart/Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems), Physics studies in Basel and Stuttgart.
Research interests include the exploration of fluctuation-induced forces in structured environments, with applications to soft matter and nanostructured systems. His work bridges theoretical physics and experimental design, addressing phenomena such as colloid trapping via chemical patterning and interfacial dynamics near phase transitions.
Publications span studies on critical Casimir forces between crenellated surfaces, crenellated substrates, and chemically striped interfaces, with contributions to understanding lateral forces and colloidal alignment mechanisms.
He serves on the Supervisory Board of Technologieförderung Reutlingen-Tübingen GmbH and manages the institute's graduate education programs and industry partnerships.
