Matthias Scheutz is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Department of Mechanical Engineering at Tufts University, where he holds the Karol Family Applied Technology Professorship. He serves as Director of the Human-Robot Interaction Laboratory (HRILAB) and oversees human-robot interaction degree programs. His research spans artificial intelligence, cognitive modeling, and human-robot interaction.
- Educational background includes a PhD from the University of Vienna (1995) and a PhD from Indiana University (1999).
Research interests focus on artificial intelligence, artificial life, cognitive modeling, and natural language understanding. He explores multi-scale agent-based models and foundational aspects of cognitive science, with applications in human-robot interaction systems.
