معرفی
Matthias Niemeier is a Professor at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC), where he leads the CoNSens Laboratory focused on Cognitive Neuroscience & Sensorimotor Integration. His research explores how the brain makes predictions to optimize perception and action, using techniques like EEG, fMRI, TMS, eye tracking, and machine learning.
- University of Hamburg (Psychologie Diplom, equivalent to M.A.)
- University of Tübingen (PhD)
His work spans perception, cognition, sensorimotor integration, and attention, with applications to spatial attention, pseudoneglect, and neural mechanisms of grasping. Current projects involve combining hand tracking with EEG to study healthy controls and stroke patients, bi-manual grasping, and joint attention. Students in his lab use computational modeling and neuroimaging to investigate sensory processing, feature-based attention, and working memory.
The CoNSens Laboratory collaborates with neuropsychology and special populations, including ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and stroke patients. Techniques like transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and machine learning are central to his team's research. He teaches courses such as PSYB51: Introduction to Perception, PSYC52: Cognitive Neuroscience of Attention, and NROC64: Sensorimotor Systems.
