Möhring-Hesse's research focuses on the intersection of theology, ethics, and social policy. His work explores political theology, secularization, social justice, environmental ethics, and the role of religious institutions in contemporary society. He examines how theological concepts inform social policy, particularly regarding common goods, welfare systems, and political decision-making. His approach combines philosophical rigor with practical engagement in social issues, often addressing contemporary challenges like housing policy, elder care, and climate justice from a theological ethics perspective.
Analysis of his recent publications reveals a consistent focus on the relationship between religious thought and social structures. His work demonstrates particular interest in political theology, secularization processes, social justice frameworks, and the practical application of theological ethics to contemporary social problems. Key recurring themes include the concept of common goods, the role of religious language in public discourse, and the ethical implications of social policy decisions.
Möhring-Hesse maintains an active scholarly presence with numerous publications appearing in journals such as Ethik und Gesellschaft, Theologisch-praktische Quartalschrift, and Amosinternational. His work often engages with Catholic social teaching while addressing contemporary social challenges through interdisciplinary lenses combining theology, philosophy, and social sciences.
