Matthias Freise

Matthias Freise is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Political Science, University of Münster. He serves as Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Digitalization in Faculty 06. His research focuses on European Union policy, cross-border governance, and civil society engagement. Key projects include BRIDGE (EU healthcare resource pooling) and SROI (citizen engagement in local governance).

Teaching includes courses on communal politics and EU law, with a hybrid consultation format. He has received the 2019 Teaching Award from the University of Münster and a Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung stipend. His work bridges theory and practice, emphasizing policy innovation and institutional collaboration.
