Matthew Wisniewski is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Kansas State University, where he directs the Auditory Learning & Cognition Lab. His research examines auditory perceptual learning processes, attention mechanisms in listening, and memory functions using interdisciplinary methods including psychoacoustics, cognitive neuroscience, and neural network modeling.
Wisniewski's work investigates how experience reshapes auditory perception and the neural correlates of listening performance. His lab employs EEG to study brain dynamics during auditory tasks and develops neural network models to generate testable hypotheses about learning mechanisms. Recent publications explore tau rhythm identification in EEG, auditory detection in noise, and brain state predictors of auditory perception.
He encourages student involvement in research and maintains collaborations through the Cognitive and Neurobiological Approaches to Plasticity (CNAP) Center at KSU.
