Matthew Williamson is an Assistant Professor and Director of the eSports Department in the Mathematics and Computer Science department at Marietta College. He holds a Ph.D. from West Virginia University (2013) and returned to Marietta College in 2017 after serving as an Assistant Professor at WVU Institute of Technology. His research focuses on algorithmic graph theory, shortest paths, and negative cycle detection, with publications in journals like the Journal of Discrete Algorithms and Algorithmica.
He teaches courses such as Computer Organization & Architecture, Programming Languages, Linux System Administration, Scientific Computing, and Game Development. Williamson also advises student organizations, including the Association of Computing Machinery and E-Sports teams. His academic background includes a double major in Computer Science and Mathematics from Marietta College (2007) and a minor in Leadership Studies.
Williamson’s professional roles extend beyond teaching to include leadership in academic and extracurricular activities, reflecting his commitment to both technical education and student engagement.
