Matthew Tarduno

Matthew Tarduno is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He holds a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics from UC Berkeley (2022) and a BA in Mathematics and Economics from Williams College (2016). Prior to UIC, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard University's Center for the Environment.

Research Focus: Tarduno specializes in Environmental Economics and Public Economics, examining externalities and policy interventions. His work explores topics like congestion pricing, ride-sharing impacts, air pollution, and equitable policy design. Recent projects include analyzing road pricing mechanisms, Uber/Lyft congestion costs, and public perceptions of environmental policies.

Key Contributions: His research has been published in journals like the Journal of Urban Economics and presented at leading conferences such as the Urban Economics Association and AERE. He has also contributed to policy reports on equitable congestion pricing schemes.
