Matthew Retallack is a Doctoral Fellow at Carleton University’s School of Public Policy and Administration (SPPA). He holds a Master’s and undergraduate degree in water resources engineering and combines technical expertise with policy analysis to address socio-economic and environmental challenges in water governance. His research focuses on integrating economic risk management frameworks with ecological sustainability, emphasizing long-term stability for both ecosystems and economies.
Education: Undergraduate and Master’s in Water Resources Engineering. Professional Experience: Policy roles in non-profit and private sectors. Collaborations: Works with Graeme Auld and Stephan Schott on governance tools linking water resources to economic decision-making.
Research Interests: Political economy of watersheds, institutional implications of governance, cultural dimensions of ecosystem management, and policy frameworks for source water protection.
Awards: 2-year Doctoral Fellowship from SSHRC. Publications span interdisciplinary topics in environmental policy, watershed management, and regulatory frameworks.
