Matthew Reidenbach, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Accounting and Hantzmon Wiebel, LLP Faculty Scholar at James Madison University's College of Business. His research focuses on cybersecurity's impact on auditing, ethics in public accounting, tax preparer regulation, and ESG disclosures. He holds a PhD in Accounting from Drexel University (2013) and a BS in Accounting from Grove City College (2006).
Before academia, Reidenbach worked as an Audit Senior at Deloitte & Touche (2006-2009) and taught at Pace University's NYC campus (2013-2019). His recent work explores federal tax preparer regulation and cybersecurity's financial audit implications. He has been honored as a 2019 PICPA Young Leader Awardee and received the 2017 AAA Ethics Symposium's 'Best Contribution to Teaching' for his cybersecurity case study.
Reidenbach's publications span accounting journals like the Journal of the American Taxation Association and Issues in Accounting Education. His research bridges theoretical frameworks with practical challenges in auditing, regulatory compliance, and professional ethics. He actively engages with industry trends such as ESG reporting and the economic viability of free college education policies.
