Matthew R. Olm is an Assistant Professor in Integrative Physiology at University of Colorado Boulder, leading the Integrative Microbiome Research Laboratory. His work combines wet-lab and computational approaches to study host-microbe interactions in inflammatory conditions.
Education includes a PhD from UC Berkeley (2019) and BS from University of Pittsburgh (2014). Postdoctoral training was completed at Stanford University (2020-2024).
Research examines microbiome assembly in infants, microbial contributions to necrotizing enterocolitis, and development of computational tools for strain-level microbiome analysis. His lab employs metagenomic sequencing and bioinformatic innovations.
Awards include NIH F32 fellowship and recognition for high-impact publications in Cell and Science. Research has been featured in mSystems and Genome Research cover stories.
