Matthew Penny

Matthew Penny is an Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at NC State University. He specializes in biomedical microdevices, robotics, and drug delivery systems. With over a decade in the medical device industry, he holds ten issued patents and has led advanced development teams in surgical robotics. His work focuses on improving patient outcomes through innovation in fluid/drug delivery devices, ophthalmic/orthopedic implants, and surgical instrumentation.

Research interests include biomechanics, robotics, implant design, and translational innovation. He actively mentors entrepreneurs in the MS-TraIn program and has contributed to four medical device startups.
