Matthew P. Malone

Dr. Matthew P. Malone is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and a pediatric intensivist at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. He is actively involved in clinical care, medical education, and program leadership within pediatric critical care.

His educational background includes medical training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, residency at Indiana University School of Medicine, and fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in both General Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, as well as by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine.

Dr. Malone's research and clinical interests span pediatric critical care with a focus on ECMO, bioethics, interprofessional education through high-fidelity simulation, renal replacement therapies, and cardiopulmonary interactions. He is deeply committed to graduate medical education and quality improvement initiatives in the PICU.

He holds key leadership positions including PCCM Fellowship Associate Program Director, PICU Resident Rotation Director, PICU Simulation Director, and Associate Medical Director and Education Director of the ECMO Program at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Nationally, he contributes to the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) Education Committee.

Dr. Malone is actively involved in clinical training, simulation-based education, and ECMO program development. He mentors trainees through residency and fellowship rotations and leads educational initiatives in the PICU. His work integrates clinical excellence with systems-based practice and educational innovation. He is affiliated with professional organizations including the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization, Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the Pediatric Acute Lung Injury and Sepsis Investigators Network.

He practices at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, the primary pediatric care center in Arkansas, where he provides specialty care for critically ill children and adolescents. He is accepting new patients and can be contacted directly for appointments.
