Matthew Krissel is an Adjunct Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, teaching the graduate seminar 'Design Leadership' (48-649). He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and Principal at Perkins&Will, a global architecture firm. For over two decades, he has led transformative architectural projects internationally. His work integrates design, technology, and AI to advance the built environment.
He co-founded the Built Environment Futures Council (BEFC) in 2023 and directs Creative Lab 3, a research platform exploring architecture, writing, and photography to inspire future-oriented ideas. His projects have garnered acclaim from institutions like the World Architecture Festival and AIA.
Key contributions include the Paulson Center at NYU, the U.S. Embassy in London, and Cellophane House™ (MoMA-featured). He has chaired major AIA design juries and presented at global forums such as the AIA National Conference and Harvard University.
Honors include awards from the AIA, Fast Company, and the Chicago Athenaeum. His academic engagements include design jury roles at MIT, Cornell, and the University of Pennsylvania.
