Matthew Knight is an Associate Librarian and Adjunct Professor in the History Department at the University of South Florida. He holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University (2021), with a dissertation on the Irish-language column in the New York Irish-American newspaper. His research focuses on Irish immigrant cultural preservation, 19th-century Irish-American press, and digital curation.
Education: Ph.D. in History, Harvard University (2021).
Research interests include Irish diaspora studies, language preservation in immigrant communities, and the intersection of theater archives with cultural history. His current projects involve the Dion Boucicault Theatre Collection and the role of the Irish language in American popular media.
Awards include the USF Outstanding Faculty Librarian Award (2021-22) and multiple professional development fellowships. He collaborates on grants for integrating library archives into curricula.
Teaches courses such as 'Irish Rebels and Revolutionaries,' 'The Irish in America,' and 'Curating Digital Collections.'
