Matthew Frye

Matthew Frye is a Clinical Associate Professor in Recreation Management and Policy at the University of New Hampshire's College of Health and Human Services. Holding M.S. and B.S. degrees from UNH, he specializes in therapeutic recreation, community-based service delivery, positive youth development, and recreation inclusion strategies.

His 2018 publication examines the meaning of competitive sports participation for youth with disabilities, employing qualitative methods to understand participation impacts on identity and inclusion. This aligns with his broader focus on community recreation needs assessments and inclusive program design.

Professor Frye serves on the NH Recreational Therapy Advisory Board and contributes to committees within the American Therapeutic Recreation Association. He has secured funding for multiple community recreation needs assessments and teaches courses spanning therapeutic recreation foundations, program design, clinical applications, and internship supervision.
