معرفی
Matthew Flatt is a Professor in the School of Computing at the University of Utah. His primary research focuses on programming languages, specifically in the design and implementation of Racket and related systems like PLT Redex. He leads work on macros, domain-specific languages (DSLs), compiler design, and concurrency mechanisms.
Flatt has developed influential tools such as Scribble (a documentation system), Honu (for algebraic syntax), and Places (message-passing parallelism in Racket). He also contributes to educational materials, including How to Design Programs.
He teaches courses like CS 3520/6520: Programming Languages, emphasizing interpreters-based learning and functional programming. His research integrates practical implementation with theoretical foundations, supported by grants and collaborations in systems programming and education.
Flatt has held visiting roles and sabbaticals, including at Northeastern and Northwestern Universities, and conducted research in Beijing during 2006-2007. His work bridges language design, implementation, and real-world applications.
