Matthew Fishman

Matthew Fishman is a Researcher at the Center for Computational Quantum Physics within the Flatiron Institute, where he has worked since September 2018. His role focuses on advancing tensor network algorithms and software development for quantum many-body systems.

Education

• B.S. in Engineering Physics from Cornell University (2012, magna cum laude)
• Ph.D. in Physics from the California Institute of Technology (2018), supervised by Steven White and John Preskill

Matthew specializes in tensor network algorithms, computational quantum physics, and quantum many-body problems. His work emphasizes software development in the Julia language and the creation of numerical methods for quantum systems, particularly through his leadership in the ITensor library.
