Matthew Douglas Adams is a Researcher affiliated with the University of Michigan's College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, associated with the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology. His work focuses on early Egyptian state formation through archaeological investigations at Abydos.
His research examines the interplay between architectural monumentality, ritual practices, and kingship in ancient Egypt. Notably, he led the re-discovery of the Abydos Royal Brewery, a major site for understanding early royal economic systems.
