Matthew Coppenbarger is an Associate Professor at the School of Mathematics and Statistics within the College of Science at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). He has taught at RIT since 2001, with a focus on discrete mathematics, combinatorial game theory, and recreational mathematics.
- Education: BS in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Arizona; PhD in Mathematics from the University of Rochester.
His research interests span combinatorics, game theory, set theory, and mathematical modeling, with a particular emphasis on recreational mathematics and puzzles. Dr. Coppenbarger’s scholarship includes recent publications in the Fibonacci Quarterly and the Journal of Integer Sequences, exploring iterative functions and number sequences.
He currently teaches courses such as Discrete Mathematics for Computing, Combinatorial Game Theory, and Undergraduate Research in Mathematical Sciences, reflecting his expertise in mathematical theory and its applications.
