Professor Matthew Cartmell holds the chair of Nonlinear Dynamics at the University of Strathclyde's Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering. He has held academic positions at leading UK institutions including University of Edinburgh (PhD 1984, Senior Lecturer 1994-1998), University of Glasgow (James Watt Chair 2006-2012), and University of Sheffield (Chair of Nonlinear Mechanics 2012-2016).
