Matthew Boles joined Duke University School of Law in 2024 as a Clinical Assistant Professor, serving as the Stewart Detention Center Clinical Fellow for the Immigrant Rights Clinic. In this role, he supervises student clinical work with detained non-citizens at an ICE detention center in Lumpkin, GA.
Education:
- J.D. and D.C.L. from Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University
- B.S. in Public Relations (summa cum laude) and B.A. in Spanish (cum laude) from the University of Florida
Boles specializes in immigration law and legal advocacy, with a focus on language access, identity, and human trafficking law. His work bridges civil law and practical fieldwork, emphasizing justice for marginalized communities.
A former legal representative at the Southeast Immigrant Freedom Initiative (Southern Poverty Law Center), he has extensive experience in immigration removal proceedings, USCIS applications, and ICE advocacy. He is admitted to the Louisiana Bar (2017) and Georgia Bar (2023), and serves on committees for the Georgia/Alabama Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyer’s Association.
