Matthew Boland

Matthew Boland, PhD, is a Lecturer II in the Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of San Diego. He holds a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Nevada, Reno (2016), an MA in Clinical Psychology from the University of Colorado, Denver and Health Sciences Center (2009), and a BA in U.S. History from Santa Clara University (2002).

Dr. Boland specializes in clinical psychology, with a focus on posttraumatic stress, emotional regulation, and psychopathology. His research explores trauma and emotional regulation in individuals with and without psychological disorders. He teaches courses including trauma and PTSD, psychopathology, motivation and emotion, principles of psychotherapy, and psychology of gender.

A licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Boland provides structured assessments and psychotherapy to medical patients, mental health consumers, and court litigants. He is the Founder and CEO of bridge dissemination LLC, offering research-based tools for mental health clinicians, and contributes medical reviews for international health websites. He is featured in mental health informational videos as "Dr. Matt B."

His hobbies include skiing, hiking in the Sierras, sailing, paddleboarding, surfing, and traveling.
