Matthew Banton

Matthew Banton is a Lecturer in Computer Science at the University of Sunderland. His research focuses on cybersecurity, network anomaly detection, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. He holds a PhD in AI and Cybersecurity, investigating deep learning approaches for network attack mitigation in SDN environments using non-standard data sources. His work includes designing trustworthy healthcare data-sharing platforms and conflict-free access rules, as well as intrusion detection systems using limited data. He teaches on BSc and MSc Cybersecurity programs and collaborates on projects such as trust-based Wi-Fi radio access networks and SDN security.
