Matthew Auth is a Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at the City College of New York (CCNY), part of the City University of New York (CUNY) system. He earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Massachusetts in 2001, specializing in differential geometry. His academic career includes teaching at Smith College (Northampton, MA) and Bard High School Early College in New York City, alongside prior experience as a Peace Corps volunteer teaching mathematics in West Africa.
Research Interests: Auth's work aligns with differential geometry and its intersections with applied mathematics, informed by his educational background and teaching in advanced calculus, linear algebra, and numerical analysis. His pedagogical focus spans foundational courses like Calculus I/II and Precalculus to specialized topics such as Modern Geometry and Differential Equations.
Teaching Roles: He has taught a wide range of courses at CCNY since 2008, including Calculus I/II, Linear Algebra, Numerical Analysis, and Advanced Calculus, often balancing in-person and online instruction. Office hours are conducted remotely and at CCNY's Marshak Building (MR 215).
