Matthew Allen is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Michigan's Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, affiliated with the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts. Collaborating with Naomi Levin and Benjamin Passey in the IsoPaleo Lab, his research focuses on ancient greenhouse intervals and their impacts on terrestrial systems through stable isotope geochemistry.
- PhD in Geology from the University of Kansas Main Campus, Lawrence
His work centers on Paleoclimate, Stable Isotope Geochemistry, Paleontology, and Stratigraphy. Currently, he is analyzing triple oxygen and clumped isotopes of mammal teeth and soil carbonates to reconstruct water stress (aridity) during the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum in Wyoming's Bighorn Basin. This research integrates quantitative paleobiology and chronostratigraphy to address global change effects on environmental water availability and biological evolution.
