Dr. Matteo Tanzi is a Lecturer in Disordered Systems and Analysis at King’s College London’s Department of Mathematics, within the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences. His research focuses on ergodic theory, dynamical systems, and applications to biology and finance. He holds a BSc and MSc in Physics from the University of Pisa and Scuola Normale Superiore, and a PhD in Mathematics from Imperial College London. Postdoctoral positions at the University of Victoria, New York University, and Université Paris Cité preceded his current role. He received a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Fellowship for studying the ergodic theory of coupled chaotic maps.
His research interests include coupled maps, reconstruction of dynamics from data, and interdisciplinary applications. Recent work explores stability in coupled systems and synchronization in oscillator networks. He leads the EPSRC-FAPESP project on critical transitions in complex dynamical networks. Tanzi is part of the Disordered Systems group at King’s, advancing statistical mechanics of complex systems. His 2025 publications highlight contributions to transfer operator theory and mathematical biology, with a focus on nonlinear dynamics and chaos.
