Matteo Melchiorre

Matteo Melchiorre is a Fixed-Term Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (DIMEAS) at Politecnico di Torino, where he teaches courses in Mechanical Engineering and Systemic Design. He is affiliated with the Mechatronics and Servosystems research group and serves as Scientific Director for commercial research projects including the CubEArm robotic arm design initiative and Preliminary Numerical Modeling of Berthing Maneuvers for in-orbit servicing.

Research Interests:

• Development of inflatable robotic arms for space applications
• Digital twin frameworks for mechanical systems
• Human-robot collaboration algorithms
• Control systems for planetary exploration vehicles
• Collision avoidance in industrial robotics
• Pipeline safety and excavator damage prevention

Publications focus on space robotics, mechatronic systems, and control algorithms, with recent contributions to IMECE, IFToMM, and International Astronautical Congress. He supervises PhD students Martina Ferrauto, Annamaria Sambrini, and Giulia Calvo in Mechanical Engineering.
