Matteo Mariantoni is an Associate Professor at the University of Waterloo and a core faculty member of the Institute for Quantum Computing (IQC). He specializes in experimental quantum computing, focusing on superconducting qubits, quantum error correction, and scalable quantum hardware. His research includes developing high-fidelity two-qubit gates and 3D-wired architectures for scalable systems.

Research Interests:
His work centers on quantum error correction via surface codes, novel qubit readout techniques using shelving mechanisms, and 3D wiring innovations. He collaborates with Dr. Zbig Wasilewski on ultra-high-quality aluminum films for superconducting circuits. His team also explores quantum simulations of the Jaynes-Cummings-Hubbard model to study photonic phase transitions.
