Matteo M. Galizzi

Dr Matteo M. Galizzi is an Associate Professor of Behavioural Science and Co-Director of the Executive MSc in Behavioural Science at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He leads the LSE Behavioural Lab and is affiliated with the Department of Psychological and Behavioural Science. His roles include steering LSE's Global Health Initiative, chairing the Open Research Working Group, and coordinating several international research networks like BEE UK and BEH-net. He specializes in longitudinal experiments, behavioural data linking, and pandemic policy responses.

Education: Matteo earned a BSc in Economics (cum laude) from the University of Pavia, an MSc in Econometrics (Distinction) and PhD in Economics from the University of York. He has held academic positions at multiple institutions including the University of York, Queen Mary London, and the Paris School of Economics.

Research Interests: His work focuses on behavioural economics, experimental methods, and health policy. He designs randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and links experimental data to biomarkers, administrative records, and epidemiological cohorts. Recent projects include analyses of pandemic responses via the PERISCOPE consortium and the ESRC-funded Understanding Society data linking initiative.

Labs & Networks: Co-founded the LSE Behavioural Lab, DLIBS (Data Linking Initiative), and PERISCOPE. Active in global collaborations on reproducibility, external validity of experiments, and behavioural insights for public health.

Teaching Excellence: Teaches courses like Research Methods for Behavioural Science and Experimental Design at LSE. Recipient of multiple teaching awards for his contributions to MSc and Executive MSc programs.
