Matt Powell is a faculty member at the University of Idaho, affiliated with the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. He holds the position of Interim Associate Dean of Research and Director of Idaho Agricultural Experiment Station. His research focuses on molecular genomic mechanisms in fish metabolism and physiology, particularly in salmonids, and developing genomic methods for disease detection and population differentiation.
- Education:
- Ph.D., Texas Tech University, 1995
- M.S., University of Idaho, 1990
- B.S., University of Idaho, 1985
Research Interests include molecular genomics, carbohydrate utilization in salmonids, and applications of genomic techniques in aquaculture. His recent publications emphasize dietary impacts on fish physiology, genetic diversity, and conservation strategies for aquatic species.
