Matt Hipsey

Matthew Hipsey is a Professor at the University of Western Australia (UWA), affiliated with the School of Agriculture and Environment and the Centre for Water and Spatial Science. His research focuses on ecohydrology, water quality, and aquatic system modelling, with particular emphasis on climate change impacts and river basin sustainability. He holds degrees including a PhD in Environmental Biology (Water Quality) from the University of Adelaide and an MEngSc in Environmental Engineering from UWA.

Dr. Hipsey coordinates courses such as ENVT2251 Hydrology & Water Resource Management and ENVT3362 Environmental Dynamics. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and SDG 13 (Climate Action). He leads projects on seagrass restoration, amphibian population dynamics, and particulate matter removal in green infrastructure.
