Matt Bristow is a Principal Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), affiliated with the Faculty of Science and Engineering and the Psychology, Sport and Sensory Science school. His research focuses on psycho-neuro-immunology, stress psychophysiology, and mucosal immunity, with particular attention to cortisol dynamics and biomarker validation. He leads a joint venture with Salimetrics Europe offering salivary biomarker testing for research purposes.
Qualifications include a PhD and membership in the British Psychological Society (MBPsS). His work emphasizes advancing methodology in stress assessment and has contributed to understanding stress-carer immune interactions in dementia contexts.
Research interests include the interplay between psychosocial factors and immunity, validity of sIgA as an immune biomarker, and cortisol reactivity in diverse populations. He collaborates with the ARU Centre for Mind and Behaviour and the Clinical and Wellbeing Group, contributing to interdisciplinary mental health research.
Recent publications explore music's role in mental wellbeing, stress-eating behaviors in adolescents, and cortisol measurement protocols. His work bridges clinical, psychological, and physiological domains to address stress-related health challenges.
