Mats Lundqvist is a Professor in Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurship Didactics at Chalmers University of Technology, currently serving as Vice President of Utilization, Innovation and Lifelong Learning. He co-founded the Chalmers School of Entrepreneurship in 1997 and directed it for over 20 years, fostering more than 1000 entrepreneurial careers and 100 sustainable tech ventures.
Research interests span university entrepreneurship, sustainable entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial education, and sustainability transitions. His work examines how educational programs shape entrepreneurial identity, the integration of causation/effectuation theories, and systemic sustainability initiatives within academic institutions.
Selected trends from his publications include institutionalizing entrepreneurship in universities, equity in entrepreneurial access, and the role of surrogate entrepreneurs in bridging academic research with market applications. His work emphasizes action-based pedagogy and systemic sustainability transitions.
Scientific awards include lifetime membership in the Swedish Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA).
