Matiss Maleckis

Matiss Maleckis is a Research Fellow at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), affiliated with the Department of Biotechnology and Biomedicine. His research focuses on microbial secondary metabolites, particularly those produced by Streptomyces species. Completing his PhD in 2023 under the supervision of Prof. Weber and Dr. Ding, his work explores the biosynthesis, ecological roles, and applications of specialized metabolites from actinobacteria. Maleckis has contributed to global collaborations such as the MIBiG database initiative and has authored several peer-reviewed articles on topics including azoxy compound biosynthesis and terpenoid engineering. He presented research on azodyrecin synthesis at a conference in 2023 and has published work on novel bioactive compounds from Streptomyces mirabilis. His research aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to sustainable cities and communities, as well as responsible consumption and production.
