Mathieu Ardyna is a CNRS Researcher at the International Research Laboratory Takuvik (CNRS / Université Laval), focusing on biological oceanography and phytoplankton ecology in polar environments. His work integrates satellite data, field observations, and autonomous platforms to study climate change impacts on phytoplankton dynamics in the Arctic and Southern Oceans.
- PhD in Oceanography (Université Laval, 2015)
- Postdoctoral Fellowships: CNES (2015–2017), Marie Curie (2018–2021)
His research examines how climate change alters phytoplankton phenology, productivity, and structure. Key themes include sea ice loss, ocean acidification, and nutrient cycling. Recent studies highlight wildfire aerosol impacts on Arctic blooms and Atlantic inflows driving Arctic species expansion.
Scientific awards include the Étudiants-chercheurs étoiles (2015), Attestation of excellence (2014 & 2015), and Fond Richard-Bernard fellowship (2014). He collaborates globally through the Tara Oceans project and contributes to understanding polar marine biogeochemical cycles.
