معرفی
Mathew Thayer is a Professor in the field of molecular genetics and genomics, with over 30 years of research experience in chromosome biology and genome stability. He obtained his B.A. in Microbiology and Chemistry from California State University, Chico in 1982, followed by a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Southern California in 1988, working under Dr. R.E.K. Fournier.
His research focuses on chromosome dynamics, DNA replication timing, and genome stability, particularly through his work on ASAR long non-coding RNAs and their role in cis-acting regulation. He has contributed to understanding how replication timing affects chromosomal instability in cancer and has published extensively in top-tier journals including PNAS, Oncogene, and PLoS Genetics.
Key research themes include:
- Epigenetic control of chromosome-associated lncRNAs
- Replication timing and mitotic condensation
- Cell cycle checkpoint interactions
- Chromosome-wide monoallelic expression
- Cancer-related genomic instability
Honors include the 2017 John A. Resko Faculty Research Achievement and Mentoring Award. His work has influenced understanding of chromosomal regulation mechanisms and their implications in developmental biology and oncology.
