Mateja Šajna is a Full Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Ottawa. She holds a B.Math from the University of Ljubljana (1992), an MSc, and a PhD (1999) from Simon Fraser University. Her research focuses on graph theory and combinatorics, particularly cycle decompositions, hypergraphs, and the Oberwolfach Problem variants. She has supervised numerous graduate and undergraduate students in areas like combinatorial design, fuzzy cognitive maps, and algorithmic graph theory.
Her work bridges theoretical and applied graph theory, including applications in public health and educational research. She teaches courses ranging from introductory linear algebra to advanced topics in graph theory and combinatorics. Active in academic service, she has co-organized conferences and contributed to combinatorial enumeration and design theory. Her research group explores hypergraph symmetries, Eulerian properties, and graph applications in interdisciplinary contexts.
