Dr. Massimo (Max) V. Fischetti is a Professor in the Materials Science and Engineering Department at The University of Texas at Dallas, holding the Texas Instruments Distinguished Chair in Nanoelectronics. He earned his Laurea in Physics from the University of Milan (1974) and PhD in Physics from the University of California, Santa Barbara (1978). His career spans decades at IBM's Thomas J. Watson Research Center, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and UT Dallas since 2010.
- Research focuses on electron transport in semiconductors and nanostructures
- Developed DAMOCLES, the first full-band Monte Carlo device simulator
- Investigates quantum transport in silicon nanowires and graphene
His theoretical contributions include understanding hot-electron degradation, strain effects on carrier mobility, and the impact of high-dielectric insulators on nanoscale transistors. A Fellow of the American Physical Society, he has authored over 150 publications and received multiple awards including the 2011 IEEE Cledo Brunetti Award.
Dr. Fischetti collaborates closely with experimentalists in nanoelectronics and materials science. His work supports the Southwest Academy of Nanoelectronics and explores future device materials and designs. He previously taught at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and spent 20+ years at IBM Research.
