Mashal Saif is an Associate Professor of Religion at Clemson University's College of Arts and Humanities, Department of Philosophy and Religion. She specializes in Islam in contemporary South Asia, postcolonial theory, and political theology, with a focus on intersections between medieval/modern Islamic discourses and state anthropology.
- Ph.D. in Religion from Duke University
Her scholarly work explores trans-temporal dynamics of Islamic thought, traditional Islam and modernity in Pakistan, and state-subject formation processes in South Asia.
Scientific awards include:

She has published two major works: The 'Ulama in Contemporary Pakistan (Cambridge, 2020) and co-edited State and Subject Formation in South Asia (Oxford, 2022), and is currently working on her second monograph Traditional Islam and Modernity in Pakistan.
