Maryann O. Forbes

Maryann O. Forbes serves as Senior Associate Dean and holds the Mildred Montag Professor title at Adelphi University's College of Nursing and Public Health. With a Ph.D. from Adelphi (1999), an M.S. from Columbia (1989), and a B.S. from Pace (1983), she is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) and Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in adult health, critical care, gerontology, and simulation pedagogy.

Research Interests: Forbes focuses on simulation in nursing education, curriculum development, quality and safety in nursing, and the impact of long-term mechanical ventilation on COPD patients. Her work often integrates arts-based reflection for end-of-life care education and IOM competencies in baccalaureate programs.

Grants: Recipient of Adelphi University Instructional Technology Grant (2011–2012) for EHR simulation safety, Faculty Development Grant (2009–2010) for clinical scenario evaluation, and Sigma Theta Tau Kappa Gamma Grant (1998) for mechanical ventilation research.
