Dr. Maryam Etezad is an Assistant Professor and Undergraduate Program Director at Chapman University's Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler School of Engineering. She leads the Maryam Etezad Research Lab, focusing on signal processing and accessible technology innovations.

Research Focus
Her interdisciplinary research spans: radar/optical signal processing, intelligent sensing systems, nano-optoelectronic sensors, and health monitoring. She develops affordable assistive technologies like refreshable Braille displays and thermal-based color perception devices for visually impaired students.
Grants & Projects
As PI on two NSF grants (including a $499K award), she advances STEM accessibility through:
- Affordable Braille initiative
- Multisensory STEM education tools
- Haptic thermal feedback systems
Research Team
Current lab members include 1 postdoctoral fellow and 5 student research assistants working on sensor technology and accessibility solutions.
